STING - Oct 4 swim meet information
STING swimmers and families,
The first STING swim meet is Saturday, October 4, at 4:00pm at the Forsyth County Family YMCA. It is located at 6050 Y St. in Cumming.
All swimmers MUST declare their attendance for the meet. The registration will open in Swimtopia on Monday, September 22 at 7:00am and close on Monday, September 29 at noon. It is assumed if a swimmer does not declare his/her attendance that he/she will not be attending and therefore will not be assigned any events. There will be no late entries. No exceptions!
Below are the steps to declare your swimmer's attendance for the meet:
- Go to the team website: https://iaysting.swimtopia.com/ or open the Swimtopia app on your phone.
- Click on Meets & Events > Signup Calendar
- Choose the Oct 4 event.
- Use the drop down box to choose "Attending" or "Not Attending".
- Be sure to save and exit out in order for the attendance to be registered.
- Coach Juan Carlos and Coach Jeff will be assigning the events and relays.
Parent volunteers will be needed for the meet. You will be prompted when you register your swimmer's attendance to also sign up to volunteer. The sign up process is also done via Swimtopia and similar to how to declare your swimmer's attendance. Please see the attached document for a description of the available volunteer duties. This information is also on the team website on the "Swim Meet 101" page.
More information regarding arrival times, what to bring, etc. will be communicated closer to the meet date. The heat sheet with events and lanes will be emailed to the team Friday night or Saturday morning when it is available.
Other important information:
- If you have not joined the STING 2025-26 GroupMe group, please use the link to sign up. We still have many families who have not accepted the invitation to join. This is the quickest way to communicate reminders and last minute updates. It is important all families are signed up. Join the group for STING 2025-26groupme.com
- Team t-shirts and swim caps have been ordered and we hope to have them in time for the first meet.
- It is YMCA policy that swimmers younger than 13 may NOT be dropped off for practice. A parent must remain on the Y campus during the practice time. The front desk will not allow the swimmer to go to practice if he/she is dropped off without a parent.
- Absolutely NO PARENTS are allowed in the Girls and Boys locker rooms before or after practice. If your swimmer needs assistance, please use the Family locker rooms.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
GO STING!!
