STING news & championship info

Congrats to the STING swimmers for winning Saturday's swim meet. A huge thank you to all the parents who volunteered and especially the teen swimmer's who helped out in the bullpen. The meet wouldn't have run so smoothly without you!

The final swim meet of the season is the YMCA Championship on Sunday, February 25, at the GA Tech Aquatics Center. This meet brings together swimmers from all the Metro Atlanta YMCA facilities and is open to ALL. The swimmers get to swim in the same pool which was used for the 1996 Olympics. Regardless of your swimmer's ability, it is a great environment to swim in and a fun experience.

  • To declare your swimmer's attendance please go to Swimtopia and choose "Attending" or "Not Attending". The deadline to register is Monday, February 19 - no exceptions!
  • Coach Carlos will be choosing events and assigning relays for this meet.
  • Swimmers 10 years and younger will swim in the morning session.
  • Swimmers 11 years and older will swim in the afternoon session.
  • There are parent volunteer opportunities for both sessions. Please use this link to register to volunteer: https://ymcaatlanta.volunteermatters.org/project-catalog/723
  • More details will be communicated closer to the meet date. Please also be on the lookout for emails via Swimtopia from Erin Hight. She is the organizer of this meet.
The last official STING practice date is Friday, February 23. Beginning March 5 there will be stroke clinics you can register for if your swimmer is interested. Please visit the YMCA website to register. This is a separate activity and not included with the swim team fees. https://ymcaatlanta.org/activity-finder?step=results&selectedLocations=23 Finally, we are working on an end of year banquet to celebrate the team. As soon as a date and time are finalized that information will be communicated. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Coach Carlos. GO STING!
