11/11 STING swim meet information
November 8th
STING families,
The next swim meet of the season is this Saturday, November 11, at our Alpharetta YMCA. We will be hosting swimmers and families from the Summit Family YMCA in Newnan.
Here are the details for the meet:
- The meet starts at 4:00pm and will last approximately 2.5-3 hours.
- Swimmers need to arrive by 2:30pm. When your swimmer arrives he/she needs to check in with the volunteer from our team to let them know they are there. Volunteers also need to check-in when they arrive.
- Warm-up for our team is 2:40-3:10pm in the pool.
- Swimmers should wear a racing bathing suit and bring multiple towels, goggles, swim cap, drinks, snacks, games, cards, books (entertainment while waiting for events).
- Swimmers will sit together as a team in the designated bullpen area in the gym. Parent volunteers will line the swimmers up for each race. It is important your child sits with the team so he/she will not miss being called for the race. Bullpen parents will not be tracking down swimmers who are not sitting with the team.
- Parents may sit in the gym or they may sit in the upstairs or downstairs viewing areas by the windows. If sitting in the gym please sit only on the side designated for the STING team. The other side is designated for the visiting team.
- Please be respectful of the gym and viewing area(s) and clean up any trash.
- Parents are welcome to walk onto the pool deck when their swimmer is in an event. If you are in front of the windows, please crouch down so families sitting outside the window can see the race, as well.
- There are still volunteer opportunities for parents to assist with the meet. Please check Swimtopia and sign up if you can help on Saturday. Throughout the season, each family is requested to volunteer for 2 meets.
- We will be selling concessions. Please bring CASH! Small bills are preferable as all items will be $0.50-$2.00.
- Your swimmer's events will be available later in the week in Swimtopia.
- Please mark your swimmer's Event/Heat/Lane and put his/her name on their back before arriving.
- Please put your swimmer's name on all his/her gear - swimsuit, team t-shirt, goggles, swim cap, towel, etc.
The team has been working hard in practice and excited for this meet. Of course, we want the swimmers to do well, but also we want them to show good sportsmanship and team spirit. As parents we can set the example and show good hospitality to the visiting team.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Coach Carlos.
Go STING!
