Swim Meet Information

STING families,

The first swim meet of the season is this Saturday, October 14, at Northwest Family YMCA (WCY). Here are the details for the meet:

  • The Northwest Family YMCA is located at 1700 Dennis Kemp Lane in Kennesaw. Parking may be tight. You can park at the library next door and walk over via the walkway between the library and YMCA.
  • The meet starts at 4:00pm and will last approximately 2.5-3 hours.
  • Swimmers need to arrive at 3:00pm. When your swimmer arrives he/she needs to check in with the volunteer from our team to let them know they are there.
  • Warm-up for our team is 3:15-3:45pm in the pool.
  • Swimmers should wear a racing bathing suit and bring multiple towels, goggles, swim cap, drinks, snacks, games, cards, books (entertainment while waiting for events).
  • Swimmers will sit together as a team in the designated bullpen area. Parent volunteers will line the swimmers up for each race. It is important your child sits with the team so he/she will not miss being called for the race. Bullpen parents will not be tracking down swimmers who are not sitting with the team.
  • There are still volunteer opportunities for parents to assist with the meet. Please check Swimtopia and sign up if you can help on Saturday. Throughout the season, each family is requested to volunteer for 2 meets.
  • The Northwest Family YMCA will be selling concessions.
  • The heat sheet for the races will be emailed out to the team as soon as it is available. Please print a copy at home and bring it with you to follow along during the meet.
  • Please mark your swimmer's Event/Heat/Lane and put his/her name on their back before arriving. If you need help, veteran parents can show you at the meet.
  • The team bathing suits, swim caps and t-shirts have been ordered. There is a possibility we may have them for Saturday's meet. The availability will be communicated via GroupMe.

The team has been working hard in practice and excited for this first meet. Of course, we want the swimmers to do well, but also we want them to show good sportsmanship and team spirit. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Coach Carlos.
